iHow it is calculated
Without a term paper, the average is the arithmetic mean of the grades. With one, the term grades count 3/4 and the paper 1/4:
With a grades mean of 9 and a paper of 8: (3 × 9 + 8) ÷ 4 = 35 ÷ 4 = 8.75, and the final grade is 9.
Calculate the term average from your grades, with or without a term paper, and get the rounded final grade.

Grades in the term
Add the grades from the term. If the subject has a term paper, enable “With term paper” and enter its grade.
For subjects with a term paper (teză), the average = 3/4 of the term grades mean + 1/4 the term paper grade. The final grade rounds to the nearest whole (0.50 up).

For subjects without a term paper, the term average is the arithmetic mean of the term grades. For those with a term paper, a weighted formula applies.
The mean of the term grades (excluding the paper) counts 3/4 and the paper 1/4. Formula: (3 × grades mean + paper grade) ÷ 4. For example, mean 9 and paper 8 give (27 + 8) ÷ 4 = 8.75.
The final grade is the average rounded to the nearest whole number. A fraction of 0.50 or more rounds up (8.50 becomes 9).
The term paper counts 25% (a quarter) of the term average for subjects that have one, and the grades during the term count the remaining 75%.
To pass, the annual average in each subject must be at least 5. An annual average below 5 means a make-up exam in that subject.
The annual average in a subject is the arithmetic mean of the two term averages: (term 1 average + term 2 average) ÷ 2.
The overall annual average is the arithmetic mean of the annual averages across all subjects studied that year, usually to two decimals.
If the annual average in a subject is below 5, the pupil takes a make-up exam in the summer to pass the subject.
