iHow it is calculated
Three mandatory deductions are taken from the gross salary, in order: first the social contributions (CAS, CASS), then income tax on what remains, after subtracting the personal deduction (if it applies):
net = gross − CAS(25%) − CASS(10%) − Tax(10% × [gross − CAS − CASS − deduction])
For a gross salary of 8,000 RON (above the deduction ceiling): CAS = 2,000, CASS = 800, taxable base 5,200 RON, tax 520 RON, so net 4,680 RON. The total employer cost (CAM 2.25%) is 8,180 RON. For lower salaries (under ~6,050 RON) the personal deduction is added, raising the net.

What is the net minimum wage?
The net minimum wage is found by subtracting CAS (25%), CASS (10%) and income tax (10%) from the gross, with the personal deduction applied. The calculator shows the exact take-home amount.
How has the minimum wage evolved in recent years?
It has risen steadily: 3,000 RON (2023), 3,300 RON (Oct 2023), 3,700 RON (Jul 2024), 4,050 RON (2025) and onward. Older values can be computed by selecting that year.

Yes, as a minimum for full-time work, except some sectors with their own minimum wage, such as construction, which has a higher gross minimum set separately.
How much does a minimum-wage employee cost the employer?
On top of the gross minimum wage of 4,325 RON, the employer pays CAM of 2.25%, reaching a total cost of about 4,422 RON per month.
Can you work below the minimum wage?
Not full-time. Part-time pay is proportional to the hours worked but based on the minimum wage, and contributions have special rules to avoid falling below a minimum threshold.
What is the difference between the gross and net minimum wage?
The gross is set by law and written in the contract; the net is what remains after deductions and is the amount you actually receive. The calculator converts between them instantly.
When does the minimum wage increase?
The minimum wage is set by government decision, usually once a year (sometimes twice). Increases take into account inflation, productivity and social dialogue.
